Travis & Dean's HARD work!

Travis and Dean (my step-dad) finished the pergola last weekend. It's great! It cuts down on the sun big time. We also tied a swing to it for Douglas. He's not a fan of that yet. We got a steal of a deal on the wisteria vines that are growing up the pergola though. They were originally $40 each but the nursery had them on clearance for $10!! My parents have that on their pergola and say that our vines will reach the top in the next 4 months and by next year will nearly cover the pergola. It's beautiful when it blooms in the spring! All we have left is to extend our patio to the pillars but that's just a matter of pouring the concrete, etc. Anyways here it is.

Here is our watermelon taking over our garden.

Can they come make us one? Do you mind me asking how much it cost? We need some kind of cover SOOOOOOOOOO bad. And we also need to expand our patio. You must be a lot more motivated than us, because we aren't getting all these things done that we wanted too. Oh well.

It looks great!

That looks awesome! How nice. I'm with Sarah, can they come to my house too? I can't wait to see how it looks in the spring with all the vines covering it.

Wow, that looks GREAT! Kyle wants to do that to our patio too. We actually have a small patio, but he wants to extend it. Did it take them very long?

Crystal I'm in agreement with everyone else. That looks awesome. Ike was really impressed! We're putting up one in our backyard too right now and looking at yours made us feel a little more confident that it can be done. Yeah, you'll have to post the details about what it took to build it for all your adoring fans. We'd really be interested!

The wood alone cost about $400. We used Dean's tools. We haven't bought the concrete yet and since we aren't pouring very much, we won't rent a concrete truck. My parents did that for theirs. They did the bulk of it over 3 Saturdays and probably spent 8 hours during weeknights over 2 weeks. You can look up pergola plans on the internet and Home Depot had a little flyer. If you were to get it done it would cost a few hundred more for the labor. We were lucky that Dean is a woodworker!!!!!!!
