Still here

Since Sarah asked, yes I'm still here and pregnant. On Wenesday the doctor said I was 3-4cm dilated but only 50% effaced. She said last week I was 70% so I'm a little upset with her measuring skills. Anyways, I'm praying that I have this baby by Monday. That's about it.

Random

I'm 39 weeks today and hopefully this is the last preggo picture in this dress. I want to be done!

And here is some random shots of Douglas from yesterday. He LOVES throwing rocks in the water and has certain items he prefers to sleep with.

Misc.

First Friend- Douglas has never been a big socialite (partly due to his age & partly due to his shyness). Well, around May we headed to the park about every day. A little girl (Elena) was there too. She's just 2 weeks older than Douglas. At first she followed him around (she's very social) and he was just like, "who's this kid following me?" Well around July Douglas suddenly showed major interest in her. Like "psycho" interest. He's not like this with any other kid. He pats her back, gives her hugs, smiles, and they scream together. They like to play ring around the rosy, and peek-a-boo, and lay on the slide together. It's really cute. A park trip is definitely not the same without Elena.
Fort time- I read about the idea to use sheets to build a fort on wash day but never found the motivation. However, humid heat and no place to go in the afternoon will quickly motivate. So last week before washing our sheets I built Douglas a simple little fort. He liked when Daddy would play peek a boo with him in it. He also liked reading books under it.

As far as the baby is concerned I'm 38 weeks, 2cm dilated and 75% effaced. I've given up hope of an early delivery but I still hope that I don't go over. Anyways, that's it.

Douglas and James

Before getting to the more important stuff (aka Douglas), I have a question. I'm 37 weeks pregnant today. On Thursday I was dilated to a 1 which is exciting to me b/c I didn't dilate until I was over 40 weeks with Douglas. Anyway, since Friday I feel like my pelvis bones have been beaten by a bat. Okay, so it's not quite that servere but they are sore. I'm sure that's normal but my hope is that labor is right around the corner. Is that just wishful thinking? Are the two related?

On to Douglas and Bimmy (James). A few months ago my friend and I went to Burlingtons together to get our sons church suits. We both thought this one was adorable so we each got one. Douglas is just now fitting into his. I made Becky put Bimmy in the suit yesterday so I could get pictures. Doulgas loves baby James. He's really the only baby he's interested in. That's probably b/c we see him all the time. Douglas and James are almost exactly a year apart. We sure love the little fellow and will miss him when he moves.

Breaking Dawn

I started the 4th book in the Twilight series Monday night and finished it just now. I was worried b/c a friend called Saturday saying that the reviews were awful. I think the book was okay. Now, I want to talk about it so I'm going to leave a comment to start the conversation. If you have NOT read Breaking Dawn then do NOT look at the comments. Spoilers are all over the comments.

Good and Bad news

Today ECI (Early childhood intervention) came for Douglas' 6 months review. They have been coming once a week since May and twice a month from Jan-May. Anyway, the speech pathologist came along today for the review. She just asked me a bunch of questions to "grade" him and see what month he is functioning at. Needless to say Douglas doesn't qualify for ECI anymore b/c he was exactly right for his age (20 months). I was surprised to hear that. I knew that he's been chatting and learning new words up a storm lately but I still thought he'd be at least 1 month behind, which is all he needed to keep ECI services. In January when they graded him he was functioning at a 10 month level (he was 14 months.) So he's made up for 10 months of language development in 6 months. Does that make sense? Anyways, I'm super thankful right now. I prayed for his proper language development every night. I've asked Heavenly Father that he be caught up by the time the baby is here and lo and behold he is!!!

That was the good news, the bad news is that I'm a terrible mom. At least that's how I've been feeling the past couple days but DEFINITELY today. Douglas came down with a fever last Thursday and Friday. It was gone Saturday but this weekend and today he's been extra whinny (which makes for an impatient mom). When he is sick he only wants his daddy, which is endearing in a way. I'm happy that he loves his Daddy so much and that Travis is such an amazing father that Douglas wants his comfort during those times. It makes me slightly sad but happy nonetheless. Well, for the past week Douglas has also been saying "Pee Pee" in a sad tone and pointing to his diaper. I was thinking perhaps he is ready for potty training. However, 4 times this weekend he's screamed it like in pain. So today after impatiently dealing with his whininess and having him scream out in pain again, I took him to the doctor right before they closed. She said it was unlikely for a circumcised boy over 3months to have a UTI but they would get a sample of urine from a catheter just in case. Oh, how he screamed and I cussed. Yes, I did under my breath b/c I felt so terrible and so angry at myself for letting this happen. Anyway, they couldn't get a sample so the rest of tonight he occasionally screamed out Pee Pee and touched his diaper. I feel awful! In a couple of days if he's still doing this they want me to come back and they'll put a cup on him to get a sample. I'm just praying it completely goes away. The poor kid. Anyways, that's it.
