Scrapbooks & Douglas

I don't have too much to post about. Some exciting news is that all of a sudden, about 9 days ago Douglas started mimicking up a storm. He's added 3 new words to his vocab. I've made a list of his words b/c I'm so excited with his progress. He went through a babbling/talking spurt around March and then hit a plateau and then all of a sudden a spurt again. I hope this spurt continues.

Consistent Words
mommy, daddy, lawnmower, silly, see, boo, more, Papa, bug, water, and whoa

Words said with prompting that are on the verge of being consistent
ball, bye, hi, cracker

I'm just so grateful for his progress lately. I get so excited when he mimics correctly. It's nuts, or rather I go nuts. I clap and say "Good job" while squeezing him and ending it with a high five and thumbs up. Physically, he's a monkey. He can now walk/climb up most slides (he's only 19.5 months), and would climb alot more of the playground equipment if I didn't stop him. I'm sorry but I'm too lazy (or 32 weeks pregnant) to follow him around and stand behind him while he climbs up stuff. I'm continuously amazed by him and just SOOOOO thankful for this last talking spurt that I pray daily will continue.

On a second exciting note (at least for me), I received my two shutterfly scrapbooks that I had made. I also printed the rest of Douglas' first year album. If you want to see them I'd be happy to show you. :-) (I'm a proud scrapper. These are my first albums.) http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=0AcNmjFo3ZNWLio

This is just the first book. I won't bore you with the others. That's about it. I'll post pictures of Douglas next week.

Pay if forward prize!

So you can see my scrap blog for further details, but basically I made a badge album that I'd love to share. It's made from badge protectors so it's only like 3.25x 3.5 big. I made it of Douglas' favorite animals. Anyways, all you (the winners) need to do is send me a close up of your child or children and I'll replace Douglas' picture with your children. And for the last picture if you could send me a picture of your child from behind (like the one I took of Douglas) then I'll replace that as well. There is also a picture of Douglas with a cat and I'll just replace that picture with a generic cat picture. I'll print them and put them in the badge protectors and send it to you. Email me those pictures and your address.
The lucky 3 are Laura, Jessica Bybee, and Jen Craiker. (Stephanine, how about I just send you the files.)

Denver, CO

We went to visit Travis' brother and his wife in Denver for Thanksgiving. We went to the Hammonds candy factory for a tour, the butterfly pavillion, downtown to see lights, and the temple. Itwas alot of fun and we look forward to seeing them again at Christmas.

Scrapbook

I just finished this page for Lifts with a Twist and wanted to share! This picture was taken last Sunday and he just looked like a little pro golfer in his polo and plaid shorts. I just love this kid!

There is nothing too new going on. We are going to Utah/Idaho next week so I'll have plenty of pictures to post later. Douglas is doing a couple new things. We've found him twice sitting up in his crib and I saw him once actually sit up. He doesn't do it often though so we'll see. I also have hope that he'll be crawling shortly. My parents actually saw him crawl a little. They said he was on all fours and moved 1hand then knee then the other hand and knee then went to his belly. I've seen him once get on all fours from his belly and rock once so hopefully he'll be crawling in a couple weeks. I know I shouldn't be wishing for that!! :-)

He's so funny. We have this game when he wakes up I hear him talk a little so I swing the door open to get him to look at the door and he gets this BIG grin on his face. I then crawl over to him growling and as soon as I reach the crib he turns frantically and acts like he's trying to take off and escape me, all the while grinning like crazy. I often hear people talk about what their favorite stage is and this past 2 months, esp. the last two weeks or so have been my FAVORITE! His smile has gotten bigger, he's much happier, and can do a little more. This is definitely been the most fun.
In other news, I've been scrapbooking like crazy! I've been working on something for my mom so I'll post that in a few weeks. I finally finished that so I've been experimenting with new techinques. It's fun but I always create two or more of the same page b/c I'm not sure which is better and then I usually ask family and Sarah (I bug her all the time- luv ya Sarah) which they like better. I've gotten mixed reviews on my latest experimenation so I'm turning over to ya'll. Which page do you like best? 1 or 2??

I love it!

I haven't posted too much about my scrapbooking but I love my newest page. There is a challenge in the digital scrapbooking world called "Lifts with a Twist". The lady picks a designer or someone that she loves their scrapbooking and the challenge is to make your own version of that page. Here is the link to this weeks lift. http://pachimactoo.typepad.com/lift_twists/2007/07/week-of-july-15.html

Here is my version.

Nothing much

This last Tuesday was Travis' birthday. Unfortunately, he's had to work late every night this week so it wasn't celebrated too much. I feel really bad for that but he had to work. He did get a lot of what he asked for though so hopefully that made up for the little celebration. Sorry hun!

This week has been a slump one for me. I have scrapbooked a lot though b/c of a printing sale that I want to take advantage of. Here's some of what I've done. Also, the pages that are going in Douglas' actual baby's book are 8.5x11. The pages going in the general family album are 8x8. Once Douglas' baby book is filled his will become 8x8 too.

I'm not going to list credits. Just know that they are NOT my templates nor did I create any of the paper or embellishments. I just put them together. If you really want to know who did something, let me know.

I've been busy...

GABhappyscrap "dream big kit" & "country cottage letters", lazy doodles by Lilypie designs, template by islandmom "patchwork"
I've taken advantage of naps and bedtime to scrap, scrap, scrap! My house is evidence of that (no cleaning time here). Anyways, here is what I've done. I need your opinions. Should I use "Milk Dud 1" or "Milk Dud 2"

This was done on Scrapbook Factory with IkeaGodess' letters.

This bottom one uses SVdesigns "Nautre"kit and IkeaGodess' letters, temaplate by dranet "guitar

Vaccinations

Per Sarah's request, here is another scrapbook page I created. Well, technically, I just put it all together. So if you want to know who made what paper, etc, let me know and I'll look. I just didn't want to list the credits because I took bits and pieces from about 4 kits (as you can probably tell). I like the collage, thrown together look. It's hard for me to get scrapbooking done because a) I'm not that creative, b) I'm still learning Photoshop Elements, and c) I've spoiled my little darling and Douglas won't have me playing on the computer while he's awake. He has to have my undivided attention. :-) I had fun with this page. I like it a lot.

P.S.
Thanks Sarah and Brianne for answering all my questions how Photoshop elements!!

Digital Scrapbooking

This summer was the first I'd heard of digital scrapbooking and it sounded great. I was excited to ask for a program for Christmas that did it. I recieved "Scrapbook Factory" for Christmas. It's great, however, it's not quite as versatile as Photoshop Elements b/c I can't download templates and use them on my program. So...I'll probably be buying that soon. Anyways, here are a couple I've done on "Scrapbook Factory". Keep in mind that I'm a beginner.

I haven't done anything since we've been married,
so I had to start there, hence the wedding pages.
