Utah trip

We just came back from our summer trip to Utah.  The boys did amazingly well on the car rides.  They watched a lot of shows.  :-)  Travis sister from Hong Kong was there with her 3 kids and then there are 3 other cousins who live in Utah so Douglas and Harrison spent alot of time with most of their cousins.  Anyways, one day we went to hike Mount Timpanogos and went in the cave. We walked 1.5 miles on a paved trail that raised 1065ft to an elevation of  6730ft.  Douglas walked the whole way up by himself.  Thats 1.5 miles up the mountain!  And then 1.5miles on the way day but he was carried for a tiny bit. Super impressed.  He wanted to be carried a fourth of the way in but Travis made him walk.  I had Harrison on my back on the way up and then Travis had him on his back on the way down.

Another major event for Douglas was during swimming.  His aunt asked if he could put his head under the water and Douglas said he couldn't.  He was scared but then his cousins showed him how to jump off the side of the pool so Douglas jumped off the step and even though he was wearing a life vest his head went briefly under water.  When we made a big deal out of him going under water and he decided to jump off the edge of the pool, several times and each time he went under and he was fine.  He's put his head under the water in the tub since then.    The boys LOVED spending time with their cousins.  The 3 kids from each family are roughly the same age so two sets of ages 12,10,and 7.  They were so good with the boys.  Even the older cousins played with the boys.  One time the cousins who were staying at the same house as us were gone for the night at their other side of the families.  Douglas said, "When are my brothers coming home?"

Harrison had a special fascination with Bella (age 7).  He would touch her and laugh with her and hug her.  He just latched on to her.  Harrison was also quite the ham for the family which we were glad they got to see that side of his personality.

Douglas loved the trampoline and picking raspberries.

We went through Denver on the way home to see Travis' brother and his family but by then the boys were done.  The lack of sleep and just a long trip was beginning to take its toll.  They were cranky.  We are glad to be back to our normal routine and  look forward to next time when hopefully we can see everybody.
